Social networks have long since altered their initial primary feature of your being social. The social aspect of the social networks is of secondary importance between all the advertisement, PR tricks, SEO management and outright invasion of your personal (cyber) space with all sorts of offers and irritating spam.
Although most of us find this pestiferous, there is not much we can do about it – we can’t tell companies to leave us alone, because they want to convince us that we need their products even though our lives were just fine even before we knew about that magic gel that cures baldness.
We can’t tell social media owners to stop this and turn the social media into what it used to be (social sites) because a large percent of their profits comes from advertising.
The more tech savvy among us are using ad-blockers, bu that can only get you so far. The rest are forced to cope with all the unimaginative ads and get back to being annoyed by all the bling-bling. That’s right, in this respect, social media are the new television. You just can’t escape the ads, can you?
But what if there was another way? What if ads could actually be useful and not intrusive? Pinterest has become one of the most major social networking and image-sharing sites on the Internet, so naturally many companies are trying to use it in their marketing and, consequently, exasperating millions of users.
What if I told you there was a way to use Pinterest and useful tools related to it for smart marketing, which is more effective and not so intrusive? Don’t believe me? Well, let’s have a look at what we’ve got.
PicMonkey
PicMonkey is a free tool for image creation and editing. It’s online, which will save you the download and installation times, and it also makes it actually work faster if you have good Internet connection.
Now you can figure out more creative ways to advertise your products, other than the annoying pictures and blatant product placement no one likes to see. PicMonkey is easy to use and can be handled even by people who know little to nothing of image editing. Your imagination will be the only thing limiting you here. Think creatively, think free and take advertisement to the next level.
ShareAsImage
The boring name aside, ShareAsImage is a great little tool to turn your customer testimonials into images. Testimonials are a really powerful tool in marketing so don’t make the mistake to underestimate their unimaginable utility.
Think big, think smart and create images out of text. You can use the free version, it will get the job done well enough, but it’s still pretty basic. You can always switch to the Pro version which is has one-time fee, but it’s not really necessary if you don’t want to. Like I said, the free version will do just fine. Now go and make those testimonials work for you!
PinAlerts
Let’s say you’ve started using the tools above and you’ve done a good job. So good, in fact, that people have actually started re-pinning your images. You would like to know that, right? You would like to know who, when and what because this is the way you can build personal relationships and win potential clients and partners.
If that’s the case, then PinAlerts is just what you need. Creating a powerful relationship out of basically nothing is in the heart of marketing. This will also help you see what you’re doing right and what you should work on more. It’s an invaluable tool for intelligent marketing.

Hi Rose,
Neat tools! I learn more about Pinterest each day, I am just busy with blogging, FBing and tweeting, and gifting, and writing, that I seem not to have the time to Pin.
But it would make sense as I have scores of travel pictures to share.
Need to work it in somehow. I will
Thanks for sharing,
Ryan

Indeed, Pinterest is a powerful tool. People are very visual beings and images can immediately attract the attention of many. A compelling image can influence others to repin. Imagine what that can do if the image is about a product.
