Why did AffiliateWP disable the live demo?
As of a few months ago, affiliateWP revealed that you could now try out AffiliateWP live, without installing it on your computer. There were several benefits to using AffiliateWP in this fashion, not least of which was the fact that it lets users decide whether or not they should invest in the plugin’s premium version.
We thought so, at least.
Due to technical difficulties, the demo has been unavailable for several months, but during that time, we obtained some really fascinating data.
We conducted some A/B testing to see if we could accurately establish whether visitors to the site were more likely to become paying customers if they were given the opportunity to test out a live demo of the product when it was first launched.
We were surprised by the outcomes.
AffiliateWP gathered data from around 10,000 visitors during the test period. As soon as they arrived on the website, users were presented with a choice between two different layouts:
A version that includes conspicuous links to the live demo.
No mentions of the live demo can be found in the second edition.
Each of the 10,000 visitors monitored by affiliateWP took a variety of actions on the site, including the following:
Each time a visitor clicked on the Get Started Now buttons, affiliateWP recorded the action.
Clicks on the Buy Now buttons were recorded by affiliateWP.
Each time a visitor clicked on the Pricing buttons, affiliateWP recorded the action.
AffiliateWP kept note of each successful transaction made by a visitor.
Visitors who were given the non-demo version of the site observed a rise in all three of these behaviors. A lack of a demo option made it significantly more probable that visitors would go on to the price and buy pages. How much more probable? Visitors who were provided the non-demo version noticed a 39% increase in traffic.
AffiliateWP also kept track of the number of people who followed up on each of these activities by actually making a purchase. Without the demo, visitors had a better chance of making a purchase every time.
Visitors who were provided prominent demo links for the Buy Now buttons, for example, made a successful purchase at a rate of 3.43 percent, whereas the success rate for visitors who were not given demo links was 5.06 percent.
Our preferred version of the site became crystal evident when the A/B tests were completed.
Potential buyers who are concerned about the dangers of acquiring software without first trying it out can rest easy. That’s actually quite straightforward. All purchases come with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
AffiliateWP can be purchased completely risk-free if you have any doubts about whether or not it will work for you. Refunds will be issued if it does not work for you or you are dissatisfied.
Do you have any software to sell? Is there a video or audio demonstration available? Having a live demo on your website could be making or breaking your business.
You should not close down your live demos based on our findings, but I would recommend you to give it a try. Compile the information and determine which alternative is the most effective.
