DataCamp vs Coursera: Plans
DataCamp: DataCamp has both monthly as well as annual subscription plans with various services available according to the type of plan. DataCamp has 3 subscription plans: Basic, Premium, and Free.
Along with these 3 plans for individuals, DataCamp also has 2 plans for teams: Professional and enterprise. I will tell you about all the features offered by each plan in detail as you read further in this blog.
Coursera: Coursera offered Coursera is mostly free. You can watch videos of the course you have taken and complete the course in a given period of time. But if you want to issue the certificate of the course you have taken you have to pay between $0 to $99. Some specialized courses are available on Coursera and they can be only taken by paying a certain amount.
Usually, subscriptions are priced from $39 to $89 per month to access one specialization course. Subscribing to a specialization course gives you full access to all contents in that course till your subscription is active.
My say: I feel that although Coursera offers free courses, DataCamp is more transparent and cheaper as compared to Coursera and hence has the cost at its advantage. You can access more courses once you subscribe and the same courses might be a bit costly on Coursera.
DataCamp vs Coursera: Curriculum
DataCamp: DataCamp seems to be more engaging for beginner-level students. It offers 325 courses based on Data Science and R programming. Learn data science easily with DataCamp. DataCamp vs Coursera: Instructors
DataCamp: The instructors available on DataCamp are from various organizations and Universities. DataCamp has a profile of all its tutors under the bio of each one. You can easily find out more about the person who is going to teach you from there.
Coursera: The instructors available on Coursera are from renowned top Universities and many of them are still employed at those universities. Along with the bio of the instructors, you will also get to know about the degrees, certifications, and all information about their certifications.
My say: While comparing the tutors in these two platforms I found out that some tutors in DataCamp had “ Data Scientist at Datacamp ” written in their bio which I think is very vaguely written and I found it a bit hard to trust them. Coursera has all university teachers as instructors who have uploaded all their degrees and certificates in their bios and hence it becomes difficult to doubt their credentials.

DataCamp is clearly designed for learners who are new in the field of Data Science and will help you to learn the basics of Data Science. That is why for beginners DataCamp is so far the best platform.
On the other hand, Coursera is designed for intermediate and advanced learners. Coursera helps advanced learners to get in-depth knowledge about the course. It helps you to grasp the subject completely which can help to get a job in this field.
Coursera comes with a variety of courses and therefore both platforms are unique in their own way. The learners who want to achieve a degree in the field they desire should opt for Coursera as the degrees provided here are from top universities all over the world.

DataCamp vs Coursera: Frequently Asked Questions
👉What is better DataCamp or Coursera?
DataCamp is the better tool to use if you want to learn R programming in a straightforward manner. Nonetheless, if you wish to continue with your degree program, the best choice for you would be to enrol in Coursera.
👉What is the difference between Coursera and DataCamp?
Coursera has a significantly more adaptable pricing structure than DataCamp. Each course on Coursera is available à la carte, so you may maximize your savings by picking and choosing the premium courses you desire. They also provide a tonne of high-quality stuff for free.
👉 Are DataCamp certificates worth it?
The certificates offered by DataCamp are not worth the cost. They won't accomplish anything for you. Having said that, the abilities, information, and hands-on experience that you gain from DataCamp are absolutely invaluable.
👉Why is Coursera so expensive?
Coursera is, for the most part, an entirely cost-free and not at all expensive educational platform. On the other hand, if you want to take classes in your area of specialization, you will have to pay for them. It is not unduly expensive to subscribe to a single specialization; however, due to the fact that each is charged independently, the cost of subscribing to multiple specializations all at once could become very significant.
👉 Is DataCamp good for data science?
I can see why this is a frequent question because data science is one of the top businesses that are rapidly expanding, with some sources predicting continuing exponential growth in the near future. Python and data science are two of DataCamp's most well-liked and may be approved courses, so if you like the site, consider taking these. If you're just starting out in data science, I think it's a good place to start, but if you've been working in data science for a while, I don't think the platform is the best option.
👉 Is Coursera expensive?
Coursera offers a variety of free courses to choose from but some courses and degrees offered by specific top universities may be expensive. However financial aid and loans are available for students who can't afford to pay the fees.
👉 Does Datacamp have free Courses?
Datacamp has a free subscription plan through which you can see the first chapters for free but it doesn’t offer any free courses.
👉 Does my certificate from Coursera expire?
Some certificates of Coursera may expire depending on the type of course and its payment and completion. Hence the expiry of your certificates completely depends on the course you take. Sometimes you may even be asked to make additional payment in order to receive your certificate.

Conclusion: DataCamp Vs Coursera 2023
There are far too many issues with Coursera for me to actually contemplate using it. DataCamp is a better and more cost-effective option, however, if I want to learn something like coding, I think I could find something else that would meet my needs better.
If you are considering becoming a member of DataCamp, you may peruse the various subscription plans that they provide on this page. I would suggest going with the most fundamental choice. The free option does not provide nearly enough functionality, while the premium tier necessitates a lengthy subscription commitment.
Thanks for the review. I arrived here because I have basically finished up everything I want to do with Coursera during my first paid year and I’m wondering if DataCamp might be deserving of another paid year.
tl;dr: For R studies on Coursera, be aware of what you’re getting into. Their peer review process can lead to frustrations from dead/abandoned courses.
My two cents: I don’t know about DataCamp, but I have an issue with Coursera’s R offerings, specifically their peer review system. I’ve enrolled in five JHU specializations. The Data Science Specialization was awesome and kickstarted my R journey. Three of the others (executive, tidyverse, and visualizations) were also really good. However, the final specialization I signed up to do (mastering software development in R) is a huge disappointment and I’ve abandoned it. The problem is that it’s a dead specialization. I got the first course done, but I’ve been waiting a long time for the next two, which I’ve completed except for peer reviews. Since that’s an integral part of how the courses work and no one is taking them anymore, it’s a dead end. Caveat emptor! If I had paid just for that specialization, I would not be happy about it. This is not to say anything about the UMich or other data science courses/specializations, since I haven’t had any involvement with them.
Very helpful article, just what I needed! I think I am going to try out DataCamp, as the possibility to study self-paced is very important to me.
